Wheels Global’s Health group’s mission is to provide affordable healthcare solutions to India’s more than 800 million rural and underserved population. The poverty, lack of healthcare facilities, lack of water and sanitation facilities, and lack of infrastructure exacerbate the problems.
Childhood health challenges continue to rise globally. Many chronic diseases affecting adults originate from habits established during childhood. However, students often receive limited practical education about nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, and healthy lifestyle choices.
Without early intervention:
♦ Poor dietary choices become lifelong habits.
♦ Physical inactivity increases health risks.
♦ Sleep deprivation negatively impacts learning and wellbeing.
♦ Students lack tools to make informed health decisions.
♦ Preventable health conditions continue growing across communities.
Recognizing this gap, ALIGN Health Initiative has been established to bring practical, engaging, and evidence-based preventive health education directly to students.
ALIGN health initiative is a joint offering of WHEELS, AAPI (Association of American Physicians of Indian Origin), GAPIO (Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin), and the Wright Centre for Graduate Medical Education. The partners are aiming to bring ALIGN program to 100+ schools in K-12 space (Elementary, Middle, High Schools) especially in tier-2 cities/towns across 30+ states of USA.

ALIGN utilizes a physician-led, school-based model that combines education, interaction, and experiential learning to help students understand health concepts and apply them in daily life.
The program consists of three integrated components:
A physician-led presentation introduces students to essential health concepts through age-appropriate and engaging discussions. Topics include:
♦ Nutrition
♦ Physical activity
♦ Sleep health
♦ Mindset and emotional wellbeing
♦ Long-term lifestyle habits
Students participate in hands-on activities designed to make healthy habits memorable and actionable.
Students discover how much sugar is present in everyday foods and beverages.
Students learn to recognize hunger cues and understand the connection between emotions and eating habits.
Students develop practical skills for reading nutrition labels and making informed food choices.
Interactive activities demonstrate enjoyable ways to incorporate physical activity into daily life.
Students explore the importance of sleep and how healthy sleep patterns support learning, energy, and wellbeing.
Students receive educational materials that reinforce their learning and encourage continued engagement at home with their families.
Resources include:
The ALIGN model is effective because it combines:
♦ Medical expertise
♦ Interactive learning
♦ Community engagement
♦ Family reinforcement
♦ Real-world application
Rather than focusing solely on awareness, ALIGN helps students practice healthy behaviors in ways that are enjoyable and memorable.
ALIGN initiative partners with:
♦ Schools
♦ Physicians
♦ Community volunteers
♦ Healthcare leaders
♦ Non-profit organizations
to expand access to preventive health education and strengthen community wellbeing.
By helping students build healthier habits early in life, ALIGN contributes toward:
♦ Better lifelong health outcomes
♦ Reduced preventable disease burden
♦ Improved health literacy
♦ Stronger family engagement in wellness
♦ Healthier and more resilient communities
This preventive approach addresses health challenges before they become chronic conditions, creating lasting impact for future generations.
