Improving the Lives in Rural India by Technology-enabled Solutions

Typically these are impact-driven professionals and leaders who participate in various meetings and initiatives on a need-basis and play a vital role in WGF’s growth of partners, projects, and access to resources.

YagyaDatt Sharma

Yagya is the very first young volunteer for WHEELS Global Foundation since its official incorporation in 2013. He is currently serving WHEELS as ‘Director of Technology Services’ playing a key role in all technical infrastructure services-related operations & initiatives while working closely with visionary Board Members. He is also working as Sr. Principal Engineer at a Software MNC- Hughes Systique in Germantown(MD).

Yagya has been instrumental in laying the foundation of all technical infrastructure services for WHEELS including designing & building a Website using the latest technology #NationBuilder cloud platform with Ruby and Liquid programming integrated with Secure Online donations system having project-wise tracking for each transaction, linking with multiple payment processors i.e. PayPal, Banks & Authorize.net, Setting up Software of ‘Auction platforms’ for annual fundraiser GALA, Managing Newsletters and Email Marketing via MailChimp software, Maintaining Contact/Donor Databases and Online transactions Audits, etc. He has also contributed to coming up with ideas for defining branding/marketing strategy, managing social media, and coming up with the statistics for our outreach programs or webinar series. 


He graduated from NIT Allahabad in Computer Science & Engineering after being ranked in the Top 0.1% of countrywide applicants for the All India Engineering Entrance Examination'(AIEEE-2004, now renamed as ‘Joint Entrance Exam'(JEE) for IITs and NITs). There is an interesting long story of how he got associated with WHEELS due to his passion for contributing to social change, without any prior acquaintance with WHEELS or any of its board members. He narrated his story in brief as opening remarks during WHEELS 2nd Gala at Taj Pierre, New York which was well appreciated by 300+ Business Leaders and Indian-American CEOs audience in attendance. Yagya has a passion for social reforms himself coming out from a small & under-developed town of Jhansi District of Bundelkhand area(India) where he has seen and experienced real-life problems since his childhood. His parents and family are still living there in a small town and he contributes by taking social initiatives in his capacity to help unprivileged people back in his hometown via his parents. He is also a blogger on social issues (https://yagyasharma.net) and their solutions since his college days and has published some articles in leading newspapers as well as been interviewed by multiple local news channels. 

 

Yagya is working closely with WHEELS Board Members under their great vision of changing lives and on various social initiatives using technology. He also contributes to event planning, sharing ideas and managing Young volunteers, and participates in Board discussions. He has been a bright student in all his academics and received district & state-level Govt scholarships for meritorious students through qualifying exams, also won multiple quizzes at various stages. He is also awarded by the Indian Ambassador at the Embassy of India, Washington DC for winning the quiz on Indian Heritage in Oct 2018.

Ambuj Agarwal

Ambuj Agarwal comes from Kanpur and is passionate about using technology for the advancement of society. He is currently working with Impact Analytics where he is involved with helping the Retail industry utilize the potential of AI and ML. He graduated from VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur with an MBA in 2011.

During his off time from work and family, Ambuj has been involved with different initiatives around Child Education and rural upliftment in different capacities. He is excited to join WHEELS Global Foundation as an ambassador to further his contribution to society.

Education: Engineering Undergraduate (Information and Communication Technology), MBA and MS Business Analytics.

Abhishek Rishabh

Mr. Abhishek Rishab is the Golub Capital Social Impact Fellow, Kellogg. He graduated from IIT Kanpur and did his PhD from ISB. His areas of interest include Pricing, Advertising, Social Impact, Charitable Giving, and Marketing Research.

Mr. Abhishek is a Quantitative marketing researcher interested in charitable donations, regulation, and platforms. 

Priyanka Sahoo

Priyanka Sahoo is a graduate of IIT Kharagpur and currently working on a project for UNDP SDG Impact (a flagship initiative of UNDP Sustainable Finance Hub) as part of her final year capstone project at LKY.

Priyanka’s skills and areas of work include Problem-Solving, Business Insights, Social Policy, Presentations, Research Projects, Technical Consultation, Government Liasioning, Public Policy, Research, Project Management, Organizational Outreach, Stakeholder Management, Analytical Skills, etc.,

Shrey Goyal

Shrey Goyal is the co-founder of Green Spider, Paris, an upcoming think tank and social enterprise harnessing the power of AI to tap the global web of ideas and connect diverse actors in the sustainable development space for rapid climate action. He leads the Sustainable Growth Initiative, Delhi, and is the honorary Head of Global Knowledge for the Bhungroo Project, an award-winning initiative addressing the severe impact of climate change on rural communities worldwide.

An IIT Kharagpur graduate, Shrey is an alumnus of the Future World Leaders Summit (Presidential Classroom, Washington DC), the European Forum Alpbach Climate Opportunity Leaders, the Australia-India Youth Dialogue, and has served as a member of the Executive Committee for Mensa India. Shrey has been accoladed with the Momentum for Change Lighthouse award (the UN Global Climate Action award) by the UNFCCC (UN Climate Change), the Ashoka Youth Venturer Award, and the Oxford Youth Business Development prize, and was listed in Forbes India 30-Under-30, a group of the country’s most promising emerging leaders.

He shall be heading observer delegations to SB58 Bonn and COP28 Dubai this year.

Apurvi Bhartia

Apurvi Bhartia, originally from Kolkata, is currently working as a research associate in Economic Consulting in the city of San Francisco. Leveraging her background in Economics and Data Analytics, her aim is to contribute to the growth of an equitable society. With a deep passion for empowering individuals, she is dedicated to creating meaningful social improvements in her community.

Apurvi graduated in Economics from the University of Southern California and looking for opportunities to utilize her multi-faceted skillset to help create a positive social impact.
