In India, 66% of its population lives in rural areas. Likewise, a large percentage of the population in developing nations is also rural. There is also a general consensus that access to Quality healthcare is a basic right of citizens in rural communities. Yet, such expectations are hardly met in rural India. Only 23 of 32000 public health centers, PHCs meet the health certification standards of the Govt. Most of them without a professional medical doctor in residence. What can technology do to alleviate such critical deficiencies in rural life in India and other developing countries? WHEELS has assembled a group of experts to address this issue in a health panel to be moderated by Arjun Malhotra, a distinguished IIT alumni, technology innovator, and Philanthropist.
