Sevak Foundation

Wheels Global’s Health group’s mission is to provide affordable healthcare solutions to India’s more than 800 million rural and underserved population. The poverty, lack of healthcare facilities, lack of water and sanitation facilities, and lack of infrastructure exacerbate the problems.

About Sevak Foundation

Sevak Foundation works on community-centric solutions to health and sanitation in rural India. Since 2010, the Sevak Project has utilized the United States Navy corpsman model to improve access to healthcare, employing individuals similar to medical assistants or health coaches. The selected individuals are trained and supported by the staff of Baroda Medical College in implementing education, screening, and healthcare tracking programs. The Sevak Project is now in over 100 villages across four states of India and has now expanded to twelve villages in Guyana in South America.

Problem Statement

♦ Lack of healthcare screening for diseases like diabetes, hypertension, anemia, TB, and obesity in rural villages.

♦ Insufficient awareness of these diseases and their prevention.

Solution & Uniqueness

♦ The Sevak Project trains local villagers for house-to-house health screenings and education.

♦ Implementation of telemedicine and Reverse Osmosis Water Plants in Sevak villages.

♦ Over 200,000 individuals gained access to healthcare and awareness.

♦ Significant decrease in prevalence of kidney stones and identification of untreated hypertension and diabetes.

Scale of Opportunity

Expansion of the Sevak model in various Indian states and villages in Guyana, South America.

♦ Addition of vocational training initiatives for women.
