About Swachangini

Diksha Foundation, in collaboration with the Patna Municipal Corporation & United Nations Population Fund, supports Dalit empowerment through Swachhangini, a cooperative for women sanitation workers. With 51 members, the cooperative seeks mentoring and support for sustainable empowerment. The objectives: Eradication of manual scavenging; Dismantling of gender stereotypes; Empowering Women from the Sanitation Worker Community.

Problem Statement

 

Deep-rooted discrimination & limited opportunities for Dalit women resulting in high maternal mortality, low bank account/property ownership, and short life expectancy.

Swachangini, a women-led cooperative for Dalit sanitation workers.
